For anyone directly impacted by aviation noise, it comes as no surprise that noise is a public health hazard. Articles and studies about the negative impacts of aviation and transportation noise on human health and the environment continue to be published in scientific journals and in the news. Here are a few recent examples (and more are on our website here):
Airplane Noise May be Bad for your Health, Boston University Press. “Research shows that exposure to aircraft noise is tied to a higher body mass index, which can increase risk of heart attack and stroke.”
Transportation Noise Pollution and Cardiovascular Health, Circulation Research, April 25, 2024.
Aviation is a Health Issue, European Union Against Aircraft Nuisance (UECNA)

QC is the only nationwide organization that promotes quiet as a valuable natural resource and works to reduce harmful noise and related pollution from aviation (airplanes, helicopters), other sources (leaf-blowers, motorcycles) and in indoor environments (restaurants, hospitals). They believe that a quieter, healthier world is possible and should be accessible to everyone.
