April 2020 MCQSC Update: Sound Perception in the Pandemic

Perhaps you are experiencing, as we are, a silver lining of the pandemic: with fewer airplanes overhead we can once again hear birds chirping, wind rustling, owls hooting, and other natural sounds that were previously drowned out by the constant roar of airplanes.

"Sound perception in the pandemic" is an international survey being conducted by a biologist from Equador who hopes the data will contribute to a better understanding of "how humans are related to their sound environment."

The whole survey takes less than one minute to complete.  Under question #4, you can indicate that airplane noise was a predominate source of noise pre-pandemic (under "other.").  You will also be asked to indicate how the new, quieter soundscape affects you.

Wishing health, safety, and peace to each of you during this difficult time.
